Latest pay and labour market statistics March 2018:

  • The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month rate was 2.7 per cent in February 2018, down from 3.0 per cent in January 2018.
  • The employment rate (the proportion of people aged from 16 to 64 who were in work) was 75.3 per cent, higher than for a year earlier (74.6 per cent) and the joint highest since comparable records began in 1971; and,
  • Total average earnings year on year increased by 2.8 per cent including and excluding bonuses, in December 2017.
