Latest pay and labour market statistics November 2021:

  • The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rose by 4.2% in the 12 months to October 2021, up from 3.1% in September.
  • The Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers’ housing costs (CPIH) rose by 3.8% in the 12 months to October 2021, up from 2.9% in the 12 months to September.
  • Latest Labour Force Survey estimates for July to September 2021 show the employment rate increased 0.4 percentage points on the quarter, to 75.4%. The quarterly increase in employment was driven by a record high net flow from unemployment to employment.
  • The number of job vacancies in August to October 2021 continued to rise to a new record of 1,172,000, an increase of 388,000 from the pre-coronavirus pandemic January to March 2020 level.
  • In the 12 months to September 2021, annual growth in average total pay (including bonuses) was 4.4% and regular pay (excluding bonuses) was 3.9%.
