Latest pay and labour market statistics March 2019:

  • The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month rate was 1.9 per cent in February 2019, up from 1.8 per cent in January 2019.
  • The UK employment rate was estimated at 76.1 per cent, higher than for a year earlier (75.3 per cent) and the highest figure on record.
  • The UK unemployment rate was estimated at 3.9 per cent; it has not been lower since November 1974 to January 1975.
  • Total average earnings increased by 3.7 per cent including bonuses and it also increased by 3.5 per cent excluding bonuses in the 12 months up to January 2019.
