Latest pay and labour market statistics August 2022:

  • The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rose by 10.1% in the 12 months to July 2022, up from 9.4% in June.
  • The Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) rose by 8.8% in the 12 months to July 2022, up from 8.2% in June.
  • The UK employment rate for people aged 16 to 64 years decreased by 0.1 percentage points on the quarter to 75.5%, and is still below pre-coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic levels.
  • The unemployment rate for April to June 2022 increased by 0.1 percentage points on the quarter to 3.8%.
  • The number of job vacancies in May to July 2022 was 1.274 million; a decrease of 19,800 from the previous quarter.
  • Growth in employees' average total pay (including bonuses) was 5.1% and growth in regular pay (excluding bonuses) was 4.7% in April to June 2022.
