Latest pay and labour market statistics September 2023:

• The Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) rose by 6.3% in the 12 months to August 2023, down from 6.4% in July.
• The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rose by 6.7% in the 12 months to August 2023, down from 6.8% in July.
• The UK employment rate was estimated at 75.5% in May to July 2023, 0.5 percentage points lower than February to April 2023.
• The unemployment rate for May to July 2023 increased by 0.5 percentage points on the quarter to 4.3%.
• In June to August 2023, the estimated number of vacancies fell by 64,000 on the quarter to 989,000.
• Annual growth in regular pay (excluding bonuses) was 7.8% in May to July 2023. Annual growth in employees’ average total pay (including bonuses) was 8.5%.
