PAYstats Pay and Labour Market Statistics, September 2018

Latest pay and labour market statistics September 2018:

• The Consumer Prices Index including owner occupiers’ housing costs (CPIH) 12-month inflation rate was 2.4 per cent in August 2018, up from 2.3 per cent in July 2018.
• The employment rate (the proportion of people aged from 16 to 64 years who were in work) was 75.5 per cent, slightly lower than for February to April 2018 (75.6 per cent) but higher than for a year earlier (75.3 per cent).
• Total average earnings increased by 3.1 per cent including bonuses and it also increased by 3.1 per cent excluding bonuses in the 12 months up to June 2018.
