Latest pay and labour market statistics May 2018:

  • The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 12-month rate was 2.4 per cent in April 2018, down from 2.5 per cent in March 2018.
  • The employment rate (the proportion of people aged from 16 to 64 years who were in work) was 75.6 per cent, higher than for a year earlier (74.8 per cent) and the highest since comparable records began in 1971; and,
  • Total average earnings increased by 3.0 per cent including bonuses and increased by 2.3 per cent excluding bonuses in the 12 months up to February 2018.
