Gross Domestic Product decreased 0.2 per cent in the fourth quarter of 2011 Print E-mail

The latest preliminary figures from the ONS show that in Quarter four of 2011:
  • GDP decreased by 0.2 per cent
  • Output of the production industries decreased by 1.2 per cent.  This is compared with an increases of 0.2 per cent in the previous quarter.
  • Construction sector output decreased by 0.5 per cent.  This is compared with an increase of 0.3 per cent in the previous quarter.
  • Output in the service industries was unchanged. This is compared with a rise of 0.7 per cent in the previous quarter.
  • GDP in volume terms increased by 0.8 per cent when compared with quarter four 2010.
